About us
The Centre of Civic Education (CCE) – an independent unit at Masaryk University – was founded in 2010 with the support of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. It is a non-partisan institution tasked with the long-term support of the search for a civic education concept in the Czech Republic.
The Centre of Civic Education provides citizens with support in areas including the development of skills facilitating public interaction and more efficient involvement in public life.
The Centre’s primary objective is to identify key topics in civic education and establish effective means of communicating them to as wide a public as possible. The CCE fulfils this objective by coordinating existing projects as well as initiating and implementing new ones, while utilizing or commissioning expert studies as needed. The CCE cooperates with all relevant parties – NGOs, state institutions and other significant organizations, e.g. universities.
The Centre is tasked both with the production of strategic materials for civic education policy purposes and the establishment of criteria for the quality assessment of particular civic education practices throughout the Czech Republic. It is also to fulfil the role of expert in the field, providing the necessary quality assurance. The Centre is actively communicating with partners in both state administration and political circles in this respect.
The unit is also involved in extensive collaboration with a wide range of international partners, focusing on acquiring both inspiration and experience. In addition to improving the Centre’s internal functioning, international collaboration will likewise help introduce a range of interesting projects in the Czech environment.
