Description Successful rearing of grebes (Podicipediformes) brood depends on more environmental factors, such as climatic conditions or food supply at breeding site. In the connection with their insufficient termoregulation in first days of their life grebes chicks are brooded under the wings on the back of their parents, where they warm and feed them. Although grebes are very adaptable birds, fishponds degradation induces currently a decrease of these interesting waterbirds populations.
