Description This paper shows several options of landscape diversity determination. Three different measures of diversity – number of elements, Shannon-Wiener index and Rao’s diversity coefficient also called quadratic entropy – were applied on data of CORINE Land Cover 2000 and natural habitats (Chytrý et al., 2001). Diversity was calculated for 628 UTM grid cells covering the Czech Republic, each of them spanning c. 11.1 x 12 km (133.2 km2) on the 50th parallel. Resulting maps show distribution of landscape diversity values in the Czech Republic and differences between two used datasets and three measures. Finally, necessity of further analysis of landscape diversity distribution is emphasized.
