Description The nanostructured compounds based on AgCuS system are considered as low-cost candidates of thermoelectric materials with improved thermal stability. The AgCuS nano powder (NP) was prepared from silver nitrate, copper nitrate and sulfur powder in tetraethyleneglycol (TEG) solvent by reductive agent (NaBH4). The particle sizes of the AgCuS samples were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS) method. The average hydrodynamic sizes of the nanoparticle samples were between 200 and 800 nm. The samples were investigated also by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and other methods. The Au, Ni and S contents were analyzed by inductively-coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). The difference between the mass of the dry sample after purification and the weight sum of the analyzed species was presumed to be the mass of surface anchored organic matter. The compositions of the samples are given. The powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used for phase identification of samples. The coexisting phases identified in the nanostructured AgCuS powders in a state as prepared by synthesis are given. The phases that can be found in equilibrium bulk AgCuS phase diagram were accepted from literature. The disagreement between nanostructured and equilibrated samples can be find. The role of the particle size of the samples is discussed.
