Description The Co-Sb system is of a special attention due to existence of CoSb3 skutterudite structure which creates the basis for doped skutterudite based thermoelectric materials. To obtain reliable data in the Sb-rich part of the Co-Sb phase diagram, crucial for the study of thermal stability of the skutterudite based thermoelectric materials and in which contradiction in published data exists, experimental alloys covering 80 to 100 at% Sb were prepared and investigated by thermal and phase analysis. The data were compared with existing literature information and thermodynamic reassessment of this binary system based on CALPHAD approach was done.
