| Description | The chapter describes the most significant features of the internal linguistic history of Dolomitic Ladin. It begins with a synthesis of the external linguistic history, referring to the Proto-Romance and to the common Rhaeto-Romance phase. The main phenomena of diachronic phonology are reviewed, comparing Ladin with the other Rhaeto-Romance varieties, Friulian in particular. The morphology follows, with a reconstruction of the different paradigms of the bicasual declination of the whole Rhaeto-Romance. After some other morphological elements, we move on to the history of the lexicon. |
