| Description | The study focuses on the Prešov builder and collector Jenö (Eugen) Bárkány and his lifelong contact with photography. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, it maps the cultural situation in Prešov and the establishment, operation and demise of a local amateur association of photographers, of which Bárkány was an important member. In other periods of the First World War, the interwar and post-war period, the study points to various preserved photographs related to Bárkány's stay in prison camps and his construction activities in eastern Slovakia, to his contacts with the museum in Košice and his later researches of monuments of Jewish architecture in Slovakia. |
