Description Training set of 10 compounds - 5 haloalkanes and 5 haloalkenes were selected from a group of halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons using statistical experimental design. The chronic toxicity expressed as the lethal dose (LD50) of volatile halogenated aliphatic substances was determined in the training set for genotoxicity testing in wings (Somatic Mutation and Recombination Test) in Drosophila melanogaster. Toxicity of bromo substances was significantly higher than chloro substances. Also size of the molecules was important for toxicity.
