Description In the last years is the research in Arabidopsis focused on reveal of the genetic principles of the flowering induction. The late flowering mutants are mainly used in this studies. The goal of this work was the study of heredity of nine late flowering mutants and interaction of this mutant genes with genes of other genetic backgrounds. Late flowering mutants were crossed with early late flowering standard lines (S96 or Di-G). One of two standard lines represents different genetic background to the late flowering genotype. F1 and F2 progeny of this cross were analysed. It was found that two mutants dn and psv are recessive and late flowering mutants L4, L5, L6-1, L6, Spi, M63 and M73 are dominant. Strong lateness of flowering time in F1 and F2 plants after cross with different genetic background Columbia shows interaction of the late genes L4, L5, L6-1, L6, Spi, M63 and M73 with Columbia genes. The FLC gene are known as "modifier" gene, that change flowering time in late flowering mutants according genetic background of the FLC gene. We suggest that lateness in plants of progeny after cross with standard line Columbia was caused by FLC gene from Columbia background. This assumption was verified by the next DNA analysis.
