Description The paper deals with the transformation of postindustrial city in terms of its temporal organization. This paper is based on Lund school of time-geography, the rhythm concepts, Lefebvre’s rhythm analysis and Crang’s geographic application of the concept of chronotope. It attempts to describe empirically the onset of postindustrial phase of city development through the analysis of changes of urban bus transport supply between 1989 and 2009. While the industrial city temporality can be characterized as shared rhythm set by a small number of dominant pacesetters (industrial plants), deindustrialization is associated with weakening of societal pacesetters and also with strong individualisation of urban rhythm. An increasing share of employment in services sector, the increase of the consumption function and reduction of production functions of the city, as well as a fundamental changes in perceiving the urban way of life-style can be considered as causes of spatial and temporal changes of rhythms.
