Description The long-term sustainability of economic system depends not only on the ability of quantitative economic growth but it is also important to focus our attention on ecological aspects of the growth. Advanced innovation systems pay its attention to eco-innovations. Eco-innovations are innovations that reduce environmental impacts of production and consumption. The environmental innovations can arise intentionally but they can also arise as a secondary effect of innovations whose primary target was another. The impulse for launching eco-innovations can come from the enterprise or from its customers. The environmental innovations can provide positive effects on producers or users. Our contribution is aimed just at above-mentioned aspects. Significant attention is also paid on comparison of EU states in the field of implementing of eco-innovations. The comparative analysis deals with which types of innovations are implemented in various states and what is firms’motivation.
