Úloha testuje naši schopnost poznat, že čísla jsou svázána logaritmem, a najít použitý základ logaritmu.
Na první pohled jsou čísla v rámečcích rozmístěna chaoticky a zdá se, že spolu nemohou souviset. Člověk s numerickými schopnostmi si však všimne, že čísla v dolních rámečcích jsou všechna odvozena od čísla 4:
64 = 4 × 4 × 4

2 = √4
0,25 = 1/4.
Číslo čtyři je tedy společným základem. Umocníme-li tento základ exponentem uvedeným v horním rámečku, výsledkem bude číslo v příslušném dolním rámečku. Nebo také: logaritmus při základu 4 čísla dole je číslo nahoře.
Správnou odpovědí je odpověď (a): log4(0,25) = −1 a 42 = 16.
