The study of Sociology (at Bachelor level taught in Czech only) opens for its students a way to understand various forms of social action, social institutions, processes and relations. It cultivates analytical skills that can be used not only in research and teaching, but also in other areas of human activity (journalism, organization management, nongovernment sphere, state administration, marketing, public relations, ecology, politics, etc.). The study leads to knowledge and understanding of social contexts of diverse tzpes and levels of societal and individual problems. The students are guided in the modern critical social theory and historical development of social thought. Auxiliary disciplines (such as demography) broaden the practical application of the theory, on which special courses are focused (social stratification, sociology of politics, sociology of family, sociology of the city, population studies, sociology of industry, sociology of culture, etc.). Systematic training in the research techniques and data analysis using modern statistical procedures, prepare students for independent research and practical work. Sociology at Bachelor's level can be studied in combination with a whole range of study field at the Faculty of Social Studies and also Faculty of Arts.
