About author:A notable Czech sculptor (1897 – 1983), studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under J. V. Myslbek and J. Štursa, member of Mánes Union of Fine Arts since 1923. His artwork comprises predominantly bronze plastics and marble sculptures; his style was mainly neo-classic, he attempted to round out the heritage of J. Štursa; under the influence of O. Guttfreund he was also engaged in art with social themes.
