Researchers in Artificial Intelligence and Law build computational models of legal reasoning to assist in legal theory, problemsolving, and pedagogy. The challenge has been to connect these models to the texts and arguments attorneys, judges, and law students actually use. This talk explores some implications of recent developments, particularly the “Jeopardy” game-winning Watson program.
