V různých modelech jazyka jsou informace potřebné pro správné vytvoření struktur různě rozmístěné do jednotlivých modulů jazykového systému. Cílem přednášky bylo si uvědomit rozdíly v organizaci (v „architektuře“) jazyka v strukturalistických teoriích a v ranní generativní gramatice.

In different models of language, the information required to generate well formed structures is distributed among the modules of the language system in different ways. The aim of the lecture has been to clarify the organization of the language system in structuralist theory and in early generative approaches.
