Úloha testuje naši schopnost porovnávat velikosti různých částí z různých celků a rychlou manipulaci se zlomky a procenty.
Úlohu můžeme řešit přímočarým postupem — určit postupně čísla A, B, C, zvolit vhodný zápis čísel pro jejich porovnání (například desetinným číslem) a seřadit je podle velikosti.
Správnost uspořádání v odpovědi (b), tj. B < A < C, je již zřejmá. Je tu však i možnost, jako u většiny úloh, použít nějakou úvahu vedoucí ke srovnání čísel, někdy i bez přesného číselného výpočtu: Dvanáct procent z 850 je desetina z 850 plus dvě procenta z 850, tedy 85+17=102. Patnáctina z tisíce je jistě menší než desetina z tisíce, číslo B bude určitě menší než sto. Sto čtyřicet procent z osmdesáti je o osm méně než jedenapůl násobek osmdesáti, tj. 120−8 = 112. Odpověď (b) odpovídá správnému uspořádání čísel.
