Annotation

The project develops the problem of narrative construction of second-generation Jewish identities in the Czech Republic and Hungary, to which the doctoral dissertation of the proposer was devoted. It concentrates on the relationship between the construction of second-generation Jewish identities and the ways of narrative meaning-making and follows four related goals. The theoretical goal of the project consists in resolving the question of collective dimension of narrative identity on the basis of Paul Ricoeur´s work. The empirical level of the project aims both to enlarge the data basis of the thesis with narrative interviews from the Czech Republic (resp. from Hungary) constructing the second-generation identity in a religious sense and to deepen the narrative analysis of life histories already collected. The pedagogical goal of the project is related to the preparation of two MA level courses. The last goal of the project concerns the publication of articles and a book based on the dissertation of the applicant. The work in this project is designed in a three years long plan.
