The goal of the project is to establish an internet communication platform linking science and research institutions and educational institutions by means of a joint, generally valid programme module aimed at the creation of a database mapping archaeological locations on the territory of Brno and the Jihlava region. The database will facilitate orientation within the results of archaeological research and will enable both the private sector and public administration to effect better protection of archaeological sites and their incorporation in urban units. Another aspect of the project is the establishment of a contact point as a communication centre, linking science and research and educational institutions on the one hand, and the general public, investors and state administration on the other. The development of this communication base will be enhanced by the participation of students from vocational schools and universities in the exchange of information through a student programme module. The programme modules are part of a broader concept of the Internet Encyclopaedia of the History of Brno created, over a long period of time, by a large collective of scholars employed in several Brno science and research and cultural-educational institutions. A separate encyclopaedia will be created for the Jihlava region.
