Popis | The topic of this article is a description of religiosity during the Enlightenment era in the works of Slovak Enlightenment authors J. Fándly, J. I. Bajza, and P. Michalko. Furthermore, it depicts the status of the Roman Catholic Church and other church denominations since the re-catholization period until the end of 18th century. The purpose of analyzing the chosen works is to characterize religiosity of the common people and intelligence of the period, state of social and religious affairs. The article includes the transformation of the understanding of the function of a priest with a new ideological focus. Folk (demotic, popular) religiosity is identified by the characterization of superstitions and the fight against it. Various religious reforms are presented by depiction of the cancellation of monastic orders. |
