The Proceedings is highlighting the necessity and importance of cartography and geoinformatics for ensuring safety and security in EW and EM of environmental and anthropogenic disasters. Latest advances in information and communication technologies (ICT) and practical knowledge have helped in many specific situations in different parts of the world. Cartography and geoinformation systems are increasingly used in EW and emergency response systems. Main symposium topics cover research areas typical for cartography and geoinformatics applied in EW and EM, such as visualization, models, data handling, data analysis, standards and ontologies, cartographic frameworks, the role photogrammetry and remote sensing for EW and CM and cartography and geoinformatics applications. An important and growing role is also played by spatial data infrastructures (SDI) and critical infrastructures which are a hot momentum all over the world. Topics of the papers are not only looking on technological approaches but also on the role of citizens in EW and EM and generally role of e-Government and e-Governance in providing/ analyzing, and laborating information about disasters to/from citizens.
