Student ID cards at MU

Types of issued student ID cards

MU issues the following types of student identity cards:

• The international student identity card (ISIC)
• ID cards for students or lifelong learning participants printed on a chip card
• ID cards for students or lifelong learning participants in the form of a paper card

ID Card Validity Verification (Czech only)

The international student identity card (ISIC)

The ISIC card is issued only to the on-site study mode students and combined study mode students of the study field, where the hourly subsidy is at least 50 % of the same study field in on-site study mode. The ISIC card is issued to every student automatically at the beginning of the study.

Besides the wide range of use for the ISIC card within the university, the ISIC card holder can benefit from discounts for shopping, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, sports facilities, tickets, plane tickets, accommodation, museums and cultural sites. In addition, there are new seasonal discounts available – for skiing areas of the Czech and Slovak republics in winter and for music and film festivals, water sports, cycling etc. in summer. The ISIC is issued for the whole course of the study period.

ID cards for students or lifelong learning participants printed on a chip card

This type of ID card is issued to the students of combined study mode, who do not fulfill the requirements for issuing the international student identity card (ISIC). The card is issued to every student automatically at the beginning of the study and is issued for the whole course of the study period.

ID cards for students or lifelong learning participants in the form of a paper card

This type of ID card is issued to lifelong learning participants, along with a chip card that is necessary for entering buildings, libraries etc. The card is issued for the whole course of the study period.

Cards’ usage

The ID card purpose is to approve belonging to MU, identification while entering buildings, classrooms, libraries and other university areas. Faculties and other bodies of MU can make use of the ID cards for a permanent identification of persons present in MU premises.

Further usage for chip cards:

• identification in dinning halls of MU
• usage of photocopiers, printers and other machines equipped with chip card readers
