About us
The former Jesuits’ college building in which Masaryk University all-university learning centre is located stands opposite to the chateau across the Zacharias of Hradec Square. The centre presents Masaryk University faculties’ studies and learning opportunities in the region offering the degree and learning programmes within lifelong learning answering the learning demand of the region by hosting seminars, conferences or summer learning courses. The learning centre differs in location – outside the South Moravia region. The surroundings are highly attractive: the historic Telč downtown with picturesque storey buildings with Renaissance gables and arcades. The town has been on UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage list since 1992.
The university started its learning activities in Telč as early as in 2002 by instructions in a just reconstructed hall of the local secondary vocational school for forty combined studies students of Art History specialised in care of monuments and safeguarding of cultural heritage. Since the academic year of 2004/2005 the Faculty of Economics and Administration has joint in and opened bachelor’s combined fields of studies specialised in economics, public administration, regional development, tourist industry, banking and management. Along with those fields of study the Telč Centre runs also lifelong learning programmes.
The Telč University Centre plans more enhancements to its activities in the following academic year. New first year students will enrol in the Faculty of Economic and Administration and the Faculty of Arts combined degree programmes, so that the number of students increases to reach at least three hundred. Besides, the Faculty of Arts is going to open University of the Third Age for local population again specialised in art history and also in the ideas of teaching a bachelor’s degree programme with the working name of Business Computing that would be run by the Faculties of Economics and Informatics together are getting real outlines.
Aside from regular instructions, the Centre hosts several additional events every month, such as one- or multiple-day seminars, conferences, trainings or conference trips. However, there are more users of the premises than just Masaryk University as those are offered to commercial purposes when unoccupied.
