Membrane lipid characterization and visualization in beta-amyloid plaques

Increasing evidence reveals the role of membrane lipids in the pathogenesis of neurological diseases via their interaction with beta-amyloid peptides in the central nervous system. The project will localize and quantify the spatial distribution of gangliosides' profiles in the vicinity of amyloid plaque between healthy and Alzheimer's disease samples through imaging mass spectrometry and ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry-selected reaction monitoring methods.
