Popis The contribution is focused on the perception of chemistry by the lower secondary school pupils and secondary grammar school students. The questionnaire with 25 Likert type items was used as a research tool. The sample size was created by 379 pupils and 552 students. The Cronbach’s alpha was used for the reliability determination with the values 0,87 for lower secondary school pupils and 0,86 for secondary grammar school students. The factor analysis was used for the construct validity determination, which divided items into four categories. The t-test for independent samples and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used for the determination of differences among independent variables (gender, year of study, favourite subject). The girls from elementary school achieved higher score than boys. 8th year study pupils and 9th year study pupils achieved similar score. The boys from secondary grammar school students achieved higher score than girls. The youngest students from secondary grammar school achieved highest score and the oldest one the lowest score. The influence of favourite subject was significant, the pupils and students with favourite science subject achieved higher score in comparison with students with other than science subject.
