Popis Mokrsko gold deposit with its 100 t of reserves can be ranked among the most important gold deposits in the Europe. Although the intensive exploration works took place at the deposit, the origin of the deposit is still not completely resolved. Aim of the research, presented in this abstract, is to use a combination of modern analytical methods (including cathodoluminescence) allowing detailed analysis of ore-bearing hydrothermal quartz and contribute to the issue of the genesis of the deposit. Cathodoluminescence studies of samples from the deposit showed, that hydrothermal quartz has several generations, which point to changes of crystallization conditions during mineralizing events. First two generations of the quartz show partially preserved growth zoning and third generation recrystallization of fissures in veins. Complicated CL textures of hydrothermal quartz, presence of fluorite in gold-bearing ore structures, temporal and spatial relationship to intrusion of the Blatna suite (part of the Central Bohemian Pluton) could indicate, that the deposit has closer affinity to intrusion related gold deposit.
