Popis Throughout the last few decades the Western society has been shaped by series of substantial changes including those affecting its very core - the institution of family. We are witnessing increasing diversification and recognition of family forms. The Czech family, too, has undergone a significant shift away from the long-term established traditional model of heterosexual-parented nuclear family towards a wider range of family types. Families headed by a same-sex parenting couple are a typical representative illustrating these trends. The presentation introduces research findings dealing with parenting experience of Czech lesbian women with regard to their perception of being different/the same in the context of heteronormative society. The data are empirically based on a qualitative research study using methods of semi-structured interview, participant observation and focus group. The acquired data were processed according to the principles of interpretative phenomenological analysis. Results are compared with foreign studies with focus on findings specific to Czech socio-cultural context.
