Suppression of human rights, election manipulation, persecution of opposition supporters, silencing of the media - this is, unfortunately, the reality of today's Belarus. We have invited personalities to the discussion who are able to comment on the issue from different perspectives.

The following people are taking part in the debate:

Kateřina Šimáčková, Judge of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg
Sjarhej Smatryčenka, Belarusian translator and Bohemian scholar who has lived in the Czech Republic for a long time
Andrei Kalavur, Belarusian PhD student of Political Science at MUNI, member of opposition campaign staff during political campaigns in Belarus before 2020
Mikita Valatovich, Belarusian student of Informatics at MUNI, he was imprisoned in his country last year

The debate will be presented by Ondřej Soukup, commentator for Hospodářské noviny and Česká televize, expert on Belarus

The debate will be translated into English (headphones available in the foyer)
