POSTDOC POSITION in Causes of cardiac arrythmogenesis and heart failure

Description:

The work will be focused on studying the cardiomyocytes differentiated from patients harbouring cardiac mutations resulting in arrhythmia and/or cardiomyopathy. Genotype-phenotype relationships shall be studied to decipher mechanism of disease onset and progression as well as novel therapeutic targets and interactions of drugs already in clinical settings.

The fellows’ responsibility would include analyzing and interpreting data from multiple assays, structural biology, mechanobiology, genomics, proteomics data, and data on drug toxicity.

The candidate will develop research protocols and carry out experiments. Data collected shall be analyzed in a complex manner.

The group of "Stem cells and disease modelling" at the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University, led by Vladimir Rotrekl, provide a basic cardiovascular research team, focused on mechanobiology, but also DNA stability aspects and role of melatonin in the field human cardiomyocytes and cardiac syncytium.

The overarching goal is the elucidation of the mechanisms behind hear failure to improve treatment strategies of cardiovascular disease.

 

The successful candidate should:

  • Hold a Ph.D. or its equivalent, awarded within the past 7 years.
  • Have a research background that includes a minimum of 2 full years of work, within the last 3 years, in the field of research conducted outside the Czech Republic, with a workload equivalent to at least 0.5 full-time employment, or have experience as a doctoral student (or equivalent) in an international setting.
  • Demonstrate a publication record that includes a minimum of three research outputs (articles) within the past three years, surpassing the field's median standards, with at least two of them ranked in Q1 according to Web of Science.


Specific qualifications include:

  • Exhibit a genuine passion for scientific exploration and a deep-seated curiosity.

  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Submission of documents validating that you have accumulated a minimum of two full years of work experience outside the Czech Republic within the past three years, and/or proof of a Ph.D. diploma from a foreign institution.
