Masaryk University ranked 266^th out of 2,002 universities in the fourth cycle of QS Sustainability Rankings, being second in the Czech Republic and also in the Eastern Europe region. MU achieved its best results in the Governance pillar, ranking 67^th worldwide.

University achieved year-on-year improvement in the Knowledge Exchange category, ranking 98^th globally with a score of 96.3. The high score is due to MU's wide range of lifelong learning opportunities, free online educational courses, and awareness-raising events on health and other societal issues. Universities are also recognized here for their active scientific cooperation with institutions from developing countries. This category contributes 10% to the overall rating. MU also ranked top 100 in the Good Governance category, which monitors the ethical, environmental, transparent, and democratic conduct of institutions in terms of their regulations, structure, strategic documents, and also from the perspective of employees (through the Academic Reputation Survey). This category accounts for 10% of the overall rating, and MUNI scored 98.2 out of a possible 100, placing it 67^th in the world.

Also in other categories our university performed well with placement in the TOP 300. In Health and Wellbeing, with a weighting of 5%, it scored 93.1 and ranked 243^rd in the world. This group of indicators monitors the scientific performance of institutions in relation to ending hunger and poverty in the world and ensuring access to drinking water and healthcare. It also evaluates healthcare for students and employees at the institution, and national statistics on quality of life are also included in the results. In the Environmental Research category, weighted at 13%, MU scored 88.6 and ranked 300^th in the world. This category monitors the scientific performance of the institution in relation to selected SDGs, the rate of citation in public documents, and UNESCO national statistics on R&D expenditure, and also evaluates the operation of the research center in the field of environmental research.

This year, 15 Czech universities made it into the QS Sustainability Rankings, which is three more comparing last year. Charles University took first place this year, ranking 258^th globally. Third in country is the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague (346^th), followed by Palacký University in Olomouc (423^rd), BUT, CTU, MENDELU, USB, VSB-TUO, OU, TBU, UCT, and the newly included universities PUEB, TUL and UHK. The global top spots in this international ranking gained Lund University (Sweden), which jumped from third place last year, followed by the University of Toronto (Canada), which was first last year, and University College London (United Kingdom), which was fifth last year. ETH Zurich (Switzerland) fell from last year's second place to 11th place.
