The programme’s goal is to develop students into top specialists in specific scientific disciplines dealinf with oncology and hematology. Graduates should be ready to take on further scientific careers in academic institutions or in health care facilities.
The program actively supports its graduates in pursuing their scientific careers even further by encouraging long-term stays in post-graduate positions abroad.
The individual facilities involved in activities of the program cover broad spectrum of oncology and hematology research areas in which doctoral students are trained.
The link between the laboratories, academic institutions and health care facilities are shared technologies, joint workshops, specialized seminars, conferences, and mutual mentoring of Ph.D. candidates. Students are motivated by the high professional quality of research in a competitive, yet collaboration-friendly environment. Performance of individual students is recognized not only financially, but also, for example, by participating at prestigious conferences abroad.
Practice is gained both by work in the research group in which the student is involved, in shared infrastructure, in the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC) and in case of clinical specializations in partner health institutions (Masaryk Oncological Institute, University Hospital Brno, St. Anne's University Hospital).
Graduates of a doctoral degree program are qualified to work especially in research institutes and health care facilities as researchers or university lecturers. They are authorized to conduct independent scientific and research activities in basic and applied research. In the most general sense, they are considered qualified for any kind of scientific work, that is dealing with conceptual issues, participating in and managing scientific research activities, and teaching.
Single-subject studies with specialization
In the single-subject studies, the student deepens knowledge in the concrete focus of the degree programme and chooses one specialization. The specialization is stated in the university diploma.
