Doctoral studies in the field of Music Theory and Pedagogy create prerequisites for deeper professional orientation of graduates in work especially in the area of tertiary education, i.e. at universities, academies and institutions of the musical cultural focus. Graduates should be ready for a scientific-research career in academic institutions, such as post-graduate positions and assistant professors. The main focus of the study is on interdisciplinary relations – gaining expertise in the areas of general and musical aesthetics, semiotics, musical sociology, musical psychology and pedagogy.
“Through analysis of music to its deeper experience.”
The practice is fulfilled by:
– the participation of the doctoral student in teaching in bachelor or master study programs
– research assignments
– active participation in conferences, symposia, professional seminars etc.
– mobility / study stay
Graduate employment is expected at universities, especially at the music departments at educational and similarly orientated faculties in the Czech Republic, and in various musical education institutions. Of course, there is also a graduate employment in secondary music schools, where he/she will offer a higher professional qualification than a master's degree graduate.
