2025 with Lifelong Learning at MUNI

Since the end of restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of LLL courses and participants has been steadily increasing. In 2025, the number of participants exceeded 20,000, approaching pre-COVID levels. The range of professional microcredential courses has been expanded to include new opportunities responding to labor market demand. Since June 2024, when MUNI issued its first fully electronic microcredential, 844 LLL participants at MUNI have obtained this professional certificate, which is the highest number among universities in the Czech Republic and more than a quarter of all 3,493 microcertificates issued.

The CŽV development strategy was further supported by the successful registration of the advertising slogan MUNI univerzita na celý život® (MUNI Lifelong University) as a word trademark number 410915. The slogan presents MUNI as a provider of continuing education "from the cradle to maturity" and includes education for children and the youth, preparation for university studies, further professional and leisure education for adults, and senior learning within the the MUNI University of the Third Age, for which last year was also exceptional.

In 2025, MU U3V celebrated the 35th anniversary of its founding. Throughout the year, special lectures, excursions, and guided tours were held, and the celebrations culminated in a city centre street game called In the Footsteps of U3V History, and an informal meeting at the MUNI campus on Veslařská Street.

Support for LLL creators at MUNI was not forgotten either. The LLL Department at MUNI Rector’s Office launched information page for LLL Creator on the Employee Portal, where they can find basic overviews, practical guides, and methodological instructions, as well as online tools such as the ECTS Credit Calculator. At the end of the year, those interested in continuing education, not only from MUNI but also from other universities in the Czech Republic and abroad, had the opportunity to participate in an international conference on continuing education Lifelong University Brno 2025. During three days, a total of 170 participants visited the MUNI premises on Komenského Square, where they listened to 39 presentations and four panel discussions in the main and side programs. Positive feedback highlighted in particular the uniqueness and motivating contribution of the conference, which is why another conference is planned for this year.

The goals for 2026 and for the following years, too, include raising awareness not only about microcredentials, but also about continuing education in general. It is necessary to convince the general public that continuing education is a valuable investment. Within MUNI, it is necessary to continue implementing continuing education requirements into the MUNI Information System in accordance with MUNI's strategy as a lifelong university, and to digitize processes with an emphasis on user-friendliness.
