In her new publication, Hana Svobodová reveals the complex linguistic situation of the formerly German-speaking areas of the Czech Republic after 1945 using the Broumov region as an example. The book focuses on the Slavicisation of this area in particular and explores how language contacts shaped local society. Expert reviews, including those by Prof. Rudolf Šrámek and Prof. Christian Lübke, praise the work for its theoretical and methodological originality, as well as its importance for historians, sociologists and linguists.
