Dear alums,
The traditional symbol of the Faculty of Arts MU is, of course, the owl. We find it perched with dignity on the faculty sceptre and as a "pocket owl" hatched from a 3D printer for the university's centenary. In my studies, besides the owl, the informal patron saint of the faculty was also a cat, which guarded the entrance to the faculty grounds and equally guarded the events in the courtyard. A fitting symbol for this spring, however, might be the stork. After all, it is shortly after St. Gregory's Day when the storks return from the sea, and we would be glad if you would come "home" too. On what occasion?
For the second year, you can attend one of the Open World of the Humanities series lectures on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:00 PM. Right after Easter, on 3 April, you can attend the lecture The World through the Eyes of the Japanese Language, given by Jiří Matela from the Seminar of Japanese Studies. In May, you can look forward to a lecture by Petr Dytrt from the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures on the French novel.
In the week of 15 April, we traditionally organise Teacher's Week. The event with the subtitle I want (to) teach is intended for students of teacher education programmes not only at the Faculty of Arts MU but also for teachers, lecturers and all others interested in the field of education. There is a choice of seminars focusing on didactics and workshops related to well-being, safe classroom environments and formative assessment. In conjunction with Teachers' Week, there will also be a moderated panel discussion on the Journeys of graduates, focusing on what the career paths of selected graduates of our faculty may look like.
Last but not least, we offer a variety of courses within the framework of lifelong learning. If you are interested in age management, the cultural richness of Greece or argument analysis, you have a reason to visit the faculty again.
We look forward to seeing you together!
