Dear alums,
This academic year, we are also joining the celebration of World Philosophy Day with Humanities Week. This year's theme commemorates the 300th anniversary of the birth of two Baroque greats – Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel and Johann Bernhard Fischer von Erlach – and the Faculty of Arts MU has prepared more than thirty lectures, workshops and other exciting events. Another traditional part of the event is the Humanities Week Celebration, where Dean Irena Radová will award academic staff and students for outstanding scientific achievements. This time, another will precede it, a no less important event. Together, in the courtyard of the leading faculty campus, we will unveil a commemorative plaque of Milan Jelínek, the former dean of the faculty and the first rector of Masaryk University after 1989, whose birth this year marks one hundred years.
Take this opportunity to look again at your alma mater – you would make us happy. If you can't make it this time, you can at least listen to the lecture by Jiří Kroupa and Miloš Štědron on Baroque architecture and music in Central Europe from the comfort of your home. We will broadcast it on the faculty YouTube channel.
We look forward to seeing you!
Zdeňka Jastrzembská Vice-Dean for Admissions and Public Communication
