Molecular Biology and Genetics
The aim of the Master's study programme of Molecular Biology and Genetics is to provide graduates with the expertise to work both in basic research and practical applications based on the approaches of molecular biology.
Graduates acquire the skills and knowledge needed in 1) basic biological disciplines (general biology, genetics, molecular biology, anthropology, microbiology, immunology, biostatistics, physiology of organisms); 2) biochemistry and chemistry (general biochemistry, enzymology, biochemical methods, inorganic, organic, analytical and physical chemistry).
A successful graduate is able to
- creatively and independently perform research work in various fields of experimental biology, especially in molecular biology and genetics
- participate in research project teams
- master and apply molecular biological and genetic methods in research and practice in the fields of experimental biology, microbiology, medicine, agriculture, industry and biotechnology
- present their results in a professional forum
Graduates can find employment especially in the institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, in specialized institutions and laboratories in health service, veterinary medicine, agriculture, pharmaceutical industry, environmental institutions, and commercial diagnostic and forensic laboratories. They can provide their research and development skills and professional expertise and become leaders of developmental teams.
