Hand Hygiene Day at the faculty of Medicine

On 5 May 2025, the Department of Public Health of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University together with students from IFMSA will organize a traditional event commemorating the importance of hand hygiene in professional and personal life. This day is declared by the World Health Organization as International Hand Hygiene Day and is mainly focused on the correct use of this preventive hygiene method in the provision of health care. According to the results of many studies, the problem is not only the correct hand hygiene technique, but also the use of the right moment to perform it. The overuse of gloves and incorrect hand hygiene practices when using them are also a major problem. This year's campaign therefore focuses primarily on the use of gloves. Those interested can visit the station outside the large auditorium on the first floor of the campus building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where they can try out the correct hand disinfection technique as well as glove use and other activities, and can also take away small themed prizes. Above all, however, remind yourself when hand hygiene is necessary to protect yourself or others.
