Evening with Ombudsman - Empowering rural communities through knowledge on fundamental rights (OMBUDSMAN)

The project “Evening with the ombudsman - Empowering rural communities through knowledge on fundamental rights” will primarily raise the awareness of EU citizens living in rural/remote areas about their fundamental rights as declared in the Charter of fundamental rights of the European Union and enhance their understanding of the possibilities for addressing the violations of their rights. This target group was selected because in these areas there is limited presence of national and EU institutions dealing with fundamental rights. Consequently, the awareness and the knowledge of these communities regarding the Charter of fundamental rights is limited. Although the project focuses on the specific target group its activities will also target the general population of participating countries. Additionally, the project will also help to develop a sense of common EU values and encourage active participation in promoting and fostering democracy and the rule of law.
