The aim of the project is to create, based on historical and social knowledge, methods for the definition of landscape characteristics that are worthy of protection. Economic and educational tools will be developed to help guide state policy to preserve and utilise cultural landscape features. The economic tools should promote the maintenance of landscape character in all activities regulated by the state, including activities that may not be directly connected to landscape. The purpose of the educational tools is to promote the popularity of landscape character features by means of school education and through the media.
