Ancestral Sequence Reconstruction (ASR) is a powerful technique that allows researchers to build the evolutionary history of modern proteins. However there are no known techniques that allow predicting what will come after the modern proteins, i.e., what will be the protein sequence of a ‘Successor’, in the future. Using datasets for amino acids, such as the AAIndex, a Successor sequence may be calculated.
