Description The following text is based on the research conducted with young children and uses the methods of data collection that are suitable and appropriate for children (focus groups, writing, and drawing). Based on the child-perspective research, we intend to contribute to the debate on the transitions of gender order in the Czech environment. The text focuses particularly on the issue of gender roles both in the family of studied children and in the projections about roles of individual family members. In the context of this research topic we ask the following questions: how children perceive different organizations of gender roles in the family? How children construct “male” and “female” activities and characteristics? How they reflect and asses the distribution of gender roles in their family? Are they leaning towards gender traditional division of roles where the mother employs a caring role and the father employs a provider role? Which characteristics they connect with the roles of individual members of the family (mother, father, grand-mother, and grand-father)?
