Description The authors of the article describe two cases of violent death, in which first information from the police was misleading. In the first case there was an injured man found in the periphery of Brno, near to bank affilliate. The man was under the influence of alcohol with contusion of his head, not communicating, so he was transported to the hospital. The police suspected it was an assault. The same day the man died in the hospital. The forensic autopsy for police was performed, which showed that the man was run over by a vehicle, so it was a car accident instead of an assault. On the other hand the second case was announced as a car accident – collision of pedestrian with an unspecified vehicle, because the dead man was found in the field by the road. The forensic autopsy for police proved that the cause of death was craniotrauma without any other injury, which would explain the mechanism of car accident. Both of the discussed cases are described in detail focused on forensic medicine findings and picture documentation.
