Description Nowadays, we have powerful methodologies of structural analysis, which provide us a large quantity of information about 3D protein structures. In my thesis, I deal with analysis of sugar binding sites in proteins. Within the framework of my bachelor thesis, I programmed software (functions for MATLAB) for calculating fingerprints and matrices of similarity coefficients. As input, this software takes PDB files, compressed into a single ZIP file. The analysis of sugar binding sites in proteins has been performed on data obtained from the Protein Data Bank using MotiveQuery software. Further, using SiteBinder software, I have performed the superposition of structural motives. These motives have been classified into groups on the basis of similarity coefficients. Six different and major groups of sugar binding sites emerged in the whole data sample. These six groups cover a total of 73.5 % of all data. These results show that the workflow of analysis designed and implemented in my bachelor thesis is successful. Therefore, it makes sense to carry out its full automation.
