Description In times of crisis the man was made to protect himself and his property. The topic of this text is cattle protection in the rural environment where thanks to the tradition a lot of timetested practices are still used. A community protected itself and its cattle by means of a ritual ploughing around the village, enclosing the village by high walls and fences and through reverence to God and patrons saint of cattle. Most rituals were in the past connected with the breeding of beef cattle that ensured regular dairy products and help in field cultivation. The ways of protection of stable cattle were different from those of grazing cattle which was exposed to a bigger danger. On account of frequent fires in the country some procedures were adopted to save the cattle from the dangerous fire.
