Description Learning strategies are, in theory and practice, automatically expected to be effective in learning processes and their outcomes. Nevertheless, research findings support these expectations to only a limited extent. This methodological-theoretical study discusses the conceptualization of learning strategies and their measurement in connection to achievement. It formulates recommendations which could make it possible to estimate a stronger relationship between learning strategies and achievement.
