Description Importance of human assisted reproduction is rising as a response for rising number of couples suffering from infertility. The key steps in human assisted reproduction are in vitro fertilization of an oocyte, cultivation of embryo and selection of an embryo with the highest developmental potential for implantation. Assessment of developmental potential of embryo is lacking of precision thus novel techniques are sought. Capillary electrophoresis with contactless conductivity detection was applied for analysis of pyruvate and lactate as potential biomarkers of developmental potential of human embryos. Optimizations of separation conditions and treatment of a sample are described and discussed. Developed method was successfully applied for analysis of several samples of spent culture media collected after cultivation of embryos.
