| Description | The aim of this study is to highlight the importance and influence of the Chamber of Commerce and Trade in Brno in shaping the museology phenomenon in the Czech Lands during the so called long nineteenth century, based on the research of these specific economic organizations. After setting their basic goals and interests in the field of museology the article focuses on the analysis of the most significant activities of the Brno Chamber in this field. First of all it is necessary to mention: providing funding for museums, participating in establishing them, participating in the museum administrative boards of the museums and, finally, advisory activities in the museum affairs. To illustrate some phenomena and tendencies there is also used a comparison with other areas of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. |
