Description The breeding material used in the process of gaining variety Pramedi was based on hybrid plants of Trifolium pratense x T. medium. In this study, there were 377 plant samples (Pramedi, red clover variety Amos and zigzag clover) assessed in several cycles. These plants originated from nurseries as well as from several trials set up between the years 2005 and 2014. The (4n) red clover cv. Amos was used as a standard. There were 14 feed characteristics analysed via NIRS. Within the hybrid plants there were significantly higher values of brutto energy, metabolizable energy, netto energy for both lactation and fattening, nitrogen, digestible nitrogen, N digestable in small intestine in comparison with both parental species. The content of the water soluble carbohydrates and the organic matter digestibility were significantly higher within hybrid than in T. medium. The content of fibre was significantly lower when compared to both parents and the content of ash and dry matter was significantly lower than in T. medium.
