Description This article describes the function of the hock joint and the foot arch. Includes the movement possibilities of a hock joint and a whole leg. Several cases of abnormal lowering of longitudinal arch or its disappearance (i.e. flat feet) have been included, including the reasons why the arch is important for walk. The article also contains an enumeration of the ligaments that keep the longitudinal and transverse arch, together with supporting ligaments. There is a part describing exercises that may be used for a rehabilitation of several types of joint injuries or for a correction or reduction of the arch shape.
